Nascar, baby!!

Ok...so I can only imagine what images and stereotypes those words bring to your mind. They have always brought those same images to my mind as well.

Well, in the last couple years, somehow Grady and I started watching Nascar races on TV. We've made it interesting with side bets and the winner gets to sleep in on Sundays! Luckily, my drives have been dominating lately!
So, my Dad & Step-mom spend a month in the Spring down in Phoenix. They've been wanting us to come down for the past few years, but it hasn't worked out. This last December, we got bumped off a flight, so Grady & I had free airfare and took advantage of their free lodging and went to Phoenix last weekend. It just so happens :)...that the Nascar race was in Phoenix that weekend too!!
It was the first time at a Nascar race for all four of us! I can't tell you how excited I was. Me, excited about Nascar...what happened?? Well, I've been on the fence, not necessarily wanting to admit that I enjoyed it...but after this weekend, I am OFFICIALLY a Nascar fan! I am not ashamed! It was such a cool experience. The weather, the crowd, the sound, the race...the entire experience was AWESOME!! I can't wait to go again!
Here's a few pics from our Nascar adventures in Phoenix:

Here's a little video as well...the TV does the sound NO justice!!!

Well I'm not a huge Nascar fan, but racing is in my blood. My grandpa and my dad were drag racers in the NHRA. The both drove a funny car. I never saw my grandpa race, but did see my dad several times when I was young. I totally know what you mean about the experience of actually being there. There's nothing quite like the way the ground shakes and your body vibrates as really powerful cars go zooming by you at hundreds of miles per hour! Glad you had a great time!

PS - I watched my daddy go up in flames when I was 9 - soemthing that I think will haunt me forever. I have to admit, I'm thankful he's not racing anymore!

Wow! Sounds totally dramatic like and air show or something. Bet I would LOVE it!
