I was really looking forward to this weekend. There was nothing big planned, just a stress-free couple of days. Friday night was good...NC played Prep and even though the Indians lost, they played much better...scored 20 points. It was a chilly night...but we had fun, Talia even went down on the track with the cheerleaders for a while and had a wonderful time.
Saturday started out well...getting ready for Talia's 2nd weekend of basketball and it was picture day. All was well until the beginning of the 2nd quarter when Talia got hit in the eye. She was upset...but really un-injured. The problem was....she couldn't regain her composure. I tried being really compassionate, then firm, but nothing worked. She was so far "gone" in her "fit" that there was no negotiating with her and thus after numerous different attempts to get her back out on the court...she was done for the day. We had to leave early. I was so disappointed in her actions and completely humiliated all at the same time. It is just SO not her personality to act that way, so I think that's what made it even harder to deal with. I don't think I really got over it for the rest of the day. We talked it out and discussed how she's going to improve her attitude next week, but I just couldn't get out of my head what the heck had happened earlier in the day.
I know by the morning, I'll be fine...it's a new day and I'll have moved on.
Guess I just needed to vent...
I hope you other mother's know the frustration I went through today and can empathize.
Tomorrow's another day....here's to it.

Oh man can I empathize. It's almost comforting how "universal" our problems & issues can be as parents.
awww, (((hugs))) sweets!
It's the hardest thing about being a mother...teaching them when their actiuons and responses are appropriate and when they aren't. AND it's an even harder lesson for us as mothers to learn that their actions are not a reflection of us...they have to learn on their own and own up to the consequences. Hang in there my friend...she's just coming into learning who she is, it'll be ok! :-)
