Another run...

High School Football.

For the Saxons, it began back on August 19th, just like every other team across the state.

After last year's run to the state championship game, this season looked to be a decent one...a winning season, maybe the making it to the first or second round of the playoffs.

Little did I know...what another special year it would be.

After finishing the regular season, undefeated and GSL Champs, the wins continued in the playoffs. Wins vs. Wenatachee, Richland, and Chiawana led us to a Thanksgiving weekend semifinal matchup vs. Bellermine Prep from Tacoma at home in Spokane.

Unfortunately, a crazy week of snow made Spokane's Albi Stadium "unplayable" and in a bizzare, last minute decision at 5p Friday, the WIAA postponed the semi-final game from Saturday to Monday and moved it from Spokane to Tacoma.

It was too hard to get everything with the kids situated, so we stayed back in Spokane. I "watched/listened" to a running chat online since there was no radio or tv coverage. It was crazy stressful!! In the first quarter the Saxons were down 10-0.

After a few hours of stress...and I'm pretty sure creating an ulcer along the way, the Saxons pulled out a nailbiter and are back in the state championship game!! WOW!!

As special as last season will always remain, now knowing the boys, the coaches and all their families even better...this season will be a different kind of special. It all comes down to December 4th...and hopefully it will end with a state championship!!

GO SAXONS!! I am so proud of all of you!
